The National University of Singapore acquired a late 19th century terrace townhouse along Neil Road and restored it as the Baba House museum. The architectural and conservation team invited archaeologists to conduct an evaluation prior to its development. The house is a rich abode of Chinese material cultural evident in its architecture, furnishing and choice of building materials. Small quantities of domestic refuse were uncovered in the backyard including a cache of fragmented glass jars used for pickles and food preservation.
